For the second time in 2022, First UMC partnered with Hats from the Heart to host an all-day hat-making event at the church to support Ukrainians affected by the Russian invasion. The church also collected hats for three weeks after each “knit-a-thon” donated by knitters around the region. The two knitting events in March and September produced over 450 hats, which were donated to aid organizations and shipped to Ukraine or a country helping Ukrainian refugees.
