FUMC is Looking for a Communication Coordinator
Position Details: Provides direction and strategy for all communications and marketing efforts at and through First UMC of Moorestown. Specifically, empowers and guides a team to develop and implement communication and marketing strategies to ensure the timely, creative, efficient and effective communication of FUMC’s mission, values, ministries, and programs.
Key Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communications
- Oversee communications to and with staff, lay leadership, congregation and community.
- Develop strategic communications strategies/a communications plan—focused on tiered communication strategies, priority messaging and storytelling while always helping people take next steps—for internal, external and online communications at and through FUMC.
- Relationship and Management
- Act as an advocate for creative and clear communication in leadership settings.
- Develop and Lead a Team of Staff and Volunteers to Engage the following:
- Communications Planning and Tactics
- Writing/Editing/Proofing—for a variety of communication tools (print, presentations, reports, web and social media).
- Design/Creativity—have a working knowledge and understanding of basic design principles; Can communicate and partner well with graphic artists to brainstorm and create a variety of tools.
- Web/Social Media/App—develop an overall vision and strategy for the church’s online efforts; Ability to manage and empower team to maintain church’s web, enews, App, social media presence
- Communications Planning and Tactics
Develop, maintain and implement processes, project management tools and standards which enable effective communication flow in all planning throughout the church
Requirements:
- Obtain and maintain Safe Sanctuary approval, criminal background check every 2 years.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or marketing; or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in a related field.
- Experience and ability to work with senior staff and lay leaders.

- Has an ability to build, manage and encourage a team.

Music Leader of Contemporary Service
First United Methodist Church is looking for a Music Leader for the Contemporary Service. The following is a brief summary of the Job Description:
The Music Leader is responsible for the coordination of the total music program for the Contemporary Music Service each Sunday at 9:00 AM in a manner that enhances the worship service at the First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Moorestown.
Key Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Responsible for selection of music, production/arrangement of lead sheets, directing, and coordination of music for Sunday Contemporary Services in collaboration with the Pastors and sermon series. Coordination of providing set list to musicians, office staff, and pastors.
- Responsible for leading weekly Kings Road Revival (KRR) rehearsals in the church sanctuary.
- Responsible for selection of music, producing, directing, coordination/planning with pastor(s) and other staff for Special Events Concerts, Advent, Lent Services, and other services as required.
- Communicating, coordinating /facilitating with other music personnel in Joint Music Services.
- Responsible for teaching KRR musicians the music and providing suggestions for interpretation of the music. Responsible for teaching songs and set lists to the musicians.
- Responsible for routine maintenance of musical equipment.
- Responsible for the Instrument Inventory of FUMC assets.
- Responsible for development of the Music Program Budget with Music Leader of Traditional Service.
- As able, attend meetings with Music/ Worship Committee, Church Council, and Church Charge Conference.
- Prepare reports for Church Council meetings and work with other church commissions, as necessary.
- All communication, verbal and written, done in a timely manner with staff, leadership and congregation.
Qualifications:
- Good interpersonal skills: capable of working with pastors, staff, parents, children, youth and adults, as well as with those of diverse racial, ethnic, political, and theological perspectives.
- Strong organizational skills such as team building, collaborative leadership, equipping others, and organizing and leading meetings.
- Degree in music preferred with ability to perform on an instrument at a professional level.
- Interest and ability to think and reflect theologically, with a commitment to the spiritual growth and discipleship of both oneself and the congregation.
- Ability to sing or ability to teach singing preferred.
- Composition, arranging, and orchestration skills.
- Fluent in the use of music composition and recording software such as Finale’, Sebelius, Audacity, or Pro Tools
This is a Part Time Position of 12 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
