Kate’s Place

Kate’s Place is a social program for developmentally delayed teens and young adults, 18 years and above.  The program is primarily designed for those who are not able to be on their own but have the human need for independence and socialization with their peers.

Most of the attendees have not built friendships in their local neighborhoods.  They are unable to drive to a friend’s house or hang out at the local malls.  At Kate’s Place they build special friendships and enjoy each other’s company.  It’s a place where they do not feel out of place.  In addition to socialization, Kate’s Place means healthy snacks, physical activities, yoga and karate classes, crafts and periodic community outings.  A work program has the attendees involved in different projects to help local communities.

Kate’s Place meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2:30 to 6:00 at FUMC.  There is a possibility that the program will be expanded to more days.  Kate’s Place welcomes new attendees.  It is an approved 501c3 approved, non-profit program.  For further information, contact
